Kyle Carpenter\, Medal of Honor Recipient\, at their June Council Meeting and proclaimed Thursday\, June 19\, 2014 as "Kyle Carpenter Day". Lance Cpl. Carpenter\, a United States Marine Corps veteran\, was wounded in combat in 2010 as part of his mission in Operation Enduring Freedom. He will receive the Medal of Honor from President Obama at the White House on  Thursday\, June 19\, 2014. The Medal of Honor is the United States' highest military honor\, awarded for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. Lance Cpl. Carpenter has also received the Purple Heart and Navy Achievement Medal. Mayor Steve MacDougall and Town Council are asking local businesses to help celebrate Lance Cpl. Carpenter's heroic actions and change their business marquee to declare Thursday\, June 19\, 2014 as "Kyle Carpenter Day".
