SUMMARY:Halloween Trail of Treats
DESCRIPTION:Children age 12 and younger will be able to collect candy free of charge at each motor vehicle or piece of equipment that is decorated with Halloween them. The trail will feature entries from the Lexington County Sherriff's Department\, public safety agencies\, businesses and community groups. Each business or community group is asked to enough candy for about 3\,000 children so each will get at least one piece of candy. Law enforcement demonstrations will be conducted at 12:30 and 1:30 p.m.\, the event will also include a puppet show and static display of the Sheriff's Department helicopter\, fire trucks\, an armored vehicle used by the SWAT team used by hazardous device technicians and fire trucks. Don't forget to check out the petting zoo\, fish display and carnival games. $1 per child\; proceeds will benefit the Dickerson Center for Children in West Columbia. Registration for the Best Dressed Pet costume competition begins at 1 a.m.\, judging starts 1 p.m. $5 per pet. Proceeds will benefit Palmetto Animal Assisted Life Services (PAALS) and Becky Sullivan\, the wife of a Lexington County firefighter who's waiting for a service dog.
