DESCRIPTION:In light of the disasters in Boston\, Oklahoma\, and West\, Texas\, a free symposium about disaster recovery in Lexington is scheduled June 14 at the Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center. Adjutant General Bob Livingston will join Lexington Police Chief Terrence Green and officials with the South Carolina Emergency Management Division and American Red Cross to discuss safety tips before\, during\, and after small and large catastrophic events.\n\n\n\nGeneral topics include:\n\n\n\n     Preparing safety kits for homes and businesses\n\n     Evacuation routes\n\n     Shelter information and protocol\n\n     Surviving emergencies with children and pets\n\n     National Guard and official response procedures\n\n     Protecting businesses\, homes\, and valuables\n\n     Staying informed before\, during\, and after an emergency\n\n\n\nThe speakers will focus specifically on hurricane safety and evacuation\, but will reiterate precautions and procedures to follow during every type of event. Q&A will follow each presentation and at the end of the symposium.\n\n\n\nThe symposium is presented by the GLC&VC\, Lexington Young Professionals\, and SERVPRO. It begins at 7:30 a.m. and is open to the public.
